The Maritime Museum of Townsville collects stories and objects related to North Queensland's maritime heritage and has as its customers the local community, schools and tourists. It was established in 1986 and features a range of thematic displays, including wars in the Pacific, Port history, the evolution of ships and the Yongala shipwreck. The Bradman Museum shop sells a curated selection of new and vintage collectables, books, sport apparel, mementos, children’s toys and more. If you have experience in designing store layouts and visual merchandising displays to maximise customer experience and sales potential, we’d love to learn from you. We also have an online store front which we are in the process of redesigning on top of doing a merchandising refresh with brand-new branding thanks to our design partners.

We are excited to be expanding the Sir Donald Bradman research library collection with a donation of a significant personal collection in 2024. We are looking for someone to assist with the organisation and cataloguing of this new collection. We are also looking for assistance with the establishment of research library loan partnerships and processes within our broader library network and research librarian services on an ad-hoc basis.

Volunteers will help with ensuring that the BVHS Collection is managed and conserved in accordance with National Standards for Australian Museums and Galleries.
