Are you keen to volunteer but unable to commit to long hours? We have the perfect role for you! Can you spare just a couple of hours of a morning or an afternoon in our Dialysis unit? We are currently seeking friendly and compassionate volunteers to provide non-clinical patient support and to assist staff with a variety of tasks.

You will work with the staff and patients of the Lyell McEwin Hospital Diabetes Education Unit to ensure that patients and visitors needs are met, and the experience of the unit is effectively recorded for quality assurance, and improvement for future services.

Music in Health program provides entertainment and relaxation for the patients, visitors and staff of the Lyell McEwin Hospital (LMH) by offering a calming and engaging environment through music. The performances aim is to positively enhance the hospital’s atmosphere, environment and experience and embrace the cultural diversity of our community encouraging everyone to pause, listen and enjoy the music.

Work with staff of the Short Stay Medical Unit to ensure that patients and visitors' needs are met, and the experience of staying on the ward is effectively recorded for quality assurance, and improvement for future services.

Do you have 2 hours free in the evening 4 pm to 6 pm to provide assistance and support to patients and staff in Ward 1B over the mealtime period? Ward volunteers play a significant role in helping to ensure the patients eat and drink. You can volunteer for as little as one day week, or more.

Volunteers work in partnership with paid staff of the ward, under the supervision of Team Leader/NUM/Office Manager to enhance the quality of Care experience in a “non - clinical holistic way” for patients as well as the relatives and friends of the patients.

This in-patient clinical unit focuses on the needs of the older person with complex medical, social and discharge planning needs. A Gem Ward Volunteer assists staff in providing regular groups for Ward patients and encouraging them to participate. This enhances the service provided by increasing individual patient support.

The purpose of the Emergency Department volunteer program at Modbury Hospital is to work in partnership with paid staff of the Department, to enhance the quality of the ‘Emergency Department Experience’ for patients as well as the relatives and friends of the patient.

Volunteers bring a ‘non-clinical’ aspect of service to the Emergency Department which aims to provide support to those who are ill or confronting sudden trauma or loss.

Work with staff of Cardiology to ensure that patients and visitors needs are met, and that the experience of staying on the ward is effectively recorded for quality assurance, and improvement for future services. Provide support to the administrations staff of the Unit.

The volunteers will work in partnership with paid staff of the ward, under the supervision of the Team Leader to enhance the quality of Palliative Care experience in a “non - clinical holistic way” for patients as well as the relatives and friends of the patients.
