Diabetes Education Volunteer - Lyell McEwin Hospital
About this opportunity
Support for tasks such as preparing gestational bags; photocopying for the unit; folding letters; ensuring items are mailed out correctly; and delivering surveys to patients after unit attendance. Patient, Family and Visitor support:
- Assist visitors to find relatives and friends on other wards and outpatient areas
- Provide non-clinical conversations with patients while sitting with them
- Orientate patients, relatives and visitors to services and facilities on the ward
- Orientate patients, relatives and visitors to services and facilities available in the Hospital (e.g., cafe, phones, car parking, ATM, gift shop,)

- An ability to work independently
- An ability to use initiative and be responsible/flexible and responsive
- Able to work effectively in an active and a busy workplace
- Non-judgemental values base
- An understanding of an ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
- An ability to relate to a wide range of individuals
- Basic computer and photocopy skills

This role is flexible (1-3 hours negotiable per day) for 2-3 days per week
