Breastfeeding counsellors are trained volunteers who offer breastfeeding information and mother-to-mother support to women whose babies are breastfeeding and to their families. Their area of expertise is breastfeeding support. The counsellors have to have breastfed at least one baby for a minimum of 6 months and hold a current Certificate IV in Breastfeeding Education (Counselling) (or equivalent) and have to complete ongoing training to up d ate their knowledge and skills.

The key role of community connector volunteers in this project is to assist with enabling socially isolated people (primarily 65+) who have been referred from a range of services, including health practitioners, to determine what community activities they would like to participate in and overcome any barriers to participation.
