A significant number of these students come from culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Volunteer homework Club tutors support students with their homework tasks and develop positive relationships.
The Women’s Driving Program will be delivered by Whittlesea Community Connections. This program is available to women from migrant and refugee communities living in Whittlesea and its surrounds, who want to learn how to drive and apply for a Victorian driver’s license. The Family Learning Club is a program for Children at Thomastown Meadows Primary School and their families; providing families with the tools and support to assist their children with their literacy skills, whilst engaging children in learning behaviours. The program support worker provides educational support after school hours to students and their families that participate in the “Family Learning Club” program.
The school time activity club aims to give students enrolled at Thomastown West Primary school additional educational support through a range of engaging activities. Through the below activities volunteers support students through their learning and development -Young Voices in Media: Students plan, record and develop their own podcast ;STEAM: Students use modular electronic kits to make their own creations and other fun science projects and a fun reading club.

The program will have the oversight of Dixon House staff but will be staffed by volunteers with an interest, experience, or education in the welfare sector.

The Volunteer Bilingual Driver Mentor position supports WCC’s Women’s Driving Program. This program provides an opportunity for women in the City of Whittlesea to work towards getting their Victorian Driver’s License. This program aims to support culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) women who may be at risk of being socially isolated, become more independent and want to access formal and informal support networks.
