We are looking for friendly people who are interested in making a difference in the lives of our community’s seniors by regularly visiting and being a social friend to individuals living in residential aged care in Fortitude Valley. In this particular role, a lady who grew up in former Yugoslavia would enjoy reminiscing in her first language and sharing a tea or coffee with you.

The Inala Multicultural Festival is a FREE one-day-only event, available to families in our local community and surrounding areas. It combines multicultural performances, rides, great food and diverse stalls. Approved volunteers agree to provide mentoring and friendship to a young person between the ages of 7 and 17. They commit to spending quality time with a carefully selected young person from a vulnerable or disadvantaged background for approximately 2 hours per fortnight for a period of 12 months. You will not be sitting in an office all day but going out to meet mentees.

The sessions are aimed at Spanish-speaking migrants and potential migrants and offer the opportunity for developing conversational and writing skills in a fun and informal way.
