The Maitland Hospital Volunteers Inc. are seeking expressions of interest from individuals who would like to join our volunteer team and provide comfort to our patients, their carers and assist our staff.

The services are required of a person to co-ordinate maintenance of the building exterior and interior and its immediate grounds. This will involve performance of some basic maintenance and gardening, as well as organising tradespeople and Council staff to carry out other maintenance activities.

Our main restoration project is steamer John Oxley, and there are many regularly used vessels on which maintenance is essential. Our current major project is the restoration to full ocean-going condition of John Oxley a former Moreton Bay pilot steamer, 760 tons. You, the volunteer will be a skilled welder and steel fabricator to aid in the final stages of hull restoration, particularly the forecastle. Your team leader is gentle giant whose welding surpasses marine standard for boiler work.
