Friends of the Ngoolyak is a group of environmental volunteers based at Piney Lakes Reserve, who study the lifecycle of flora, collect, process, and germinate seeds for planting in the Reserve. The seed collection project started in December 2022 as a pilot project. Location: Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre, 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop. Wirambi Landcare is Western Australian not-for-profit organisation focused on increasing the awareness of our unique wildlife. Much of the work we do is out in the field weeding, planting and monitoring. We have three sites in the City of Melville which are Blue Gum Lake, Booragoon Lake and Quenda Wetland where we assist the council’s bushcrew and the friends of group in caring for these reserves.

Our retail area is open to the public for plant sales. More indigenous plants in gardens and larger revegetation projects provide habitat for native animals, birds and insects, and reduce species loss. We rely on volunteers but lockdowns hit us hard. Please help us get back to the thriving nursery from before the pandemic!
