Pearn's Steam World has one of the best collection of agricultural steam engines, tractors and other farming artifacts in Australia. These need maintenance, preservation, restoration, or rebuilding depending on their condition. We welcome anyone with the skills and/or aptitude to join the team who care for the collection. The collection ranges from large steam engines to small items such as hand-cranked seeders and butter churns.

Welcoming visitors to the museum, collecting the entry fee, giving a brief outline of the museum and its layout, selling items from the shop. Opening and closing the museum. Other opportunities include: Driving the miniature train, assisting in the museum's administration, and researching the stories behind the objects.

Hobart City Mission's Sorting Warehouse is the engine room for our Retail Op shops. Donated electrical items are sorted and sent out to stores for people to purchase, instead of sending them to landfill! Sold donations raise money to support Hobart's vulnerable community experiencing crisis.

Do you want to learn new skills meet new people and do something completely different? Volunteer crew members needed to help sail the historic square-rigged Lady Nelson tall ship. The Tasmanian Sail Training Association is seeking new volunteer members to learn tall ship sailing on Tasmania’s iconic waterways.

This role is for those with an eye for detail who don’t mind getting their hands dirty. Duties include maintaining the appearance or our iconic collection dog donation tins, washing them with soapy water, replacing damaged stickers and security chain. Volunteers support the collection dog volunteer driver role by ensuring there is enough clean mini dog collection tins to be used on the following weeks scheduled collection run.

Each Saturday from 12:30pm-1:30pm four dedicated volunteers help to pack down all the public seating, marquees and infrastructure that is used in the public spaces at the market. These areas are what sets our beautiful market apart from other markets, and gives us our true community feel. This role requires a moderate amount of manual handling including bending, lifting and moving marquee weights (up to 20kg)

NOTE: School Tour Guides MUST have well developed English speaking skills. The School Tour Guide will use a range of well-developed guiding skills combined with a substantial depth of subject matter knowledge to deliver house tours. You will work with some independence and under limited supervision using discretion and judgement to resolve problems.

Museum Collections Management/Curator - any level of experience acceptable
