Our steam tug Waratah built 1902 at Cockatoo Island badly needs help to maintain paintwork by removing and treating rust, then re-painting. Sydney Heritage Fleet is voluntary group dedicated to preserving, restoring and operating vessels representing our Maritime history. We own in addition to many smaller boats, the former VIP steam yacht Lady Hopetoun, ex-Moreton Bay pilot steamer John Oxley, and the mighty 1,000 passenger double-ended Sydney Harbour Ferry Kanangra

Sydney Heritage Fleet is a volunteer organisation dedicated to preserving, restoring and operating vessels which represent Australia's maritime history. They include Tall Ship James Craig, ferry Kanangra, steamship John Oxley, 1902 steam tug Waratah, 1902 VIP launch Lady Hopetoun, 1903 schooner Boomerang and several diesel motor launches.

In honour of World Oceans Day 2023, we are celebrating our marine ecosystems at Hawthorne Reserve in Ramsgate for a Sustainable Skincare Making Workshop with Sage Cosmetics Coaching. Join us on our journey to reduce our impact and learn how to create professional-style, zero-waste, natural skincare from scratch. A light catered morning tea will also be provided.

The Sydney Heritage Fleet Workshops in Rozelle Bay is a busy hive of activity. Our main restoration project is steamer John Oxley, and there are many regularly used vessels on which maintenance is essential. You will find yourself in a very happy friendly work environment where there are no cliques or feuds or jealousies. Just the keen desire to have the joy of having a productive day.

Sydney Heritage Fleet owns, restores and operates historic steam ships, sailing ships and many smaller launches. Our current major project is the restoration to full ocean-going condition of John Oxley a former Moreton Bay pilot steamer, 760 tons. You, the volunteer will be a skilled welder and steel fabricator to aid in the final stages of hull restoration, particularly the forecastle. Your team leader is gentle giant whose welding surpasses marine standard for boiler work.

Calling anyone with smartphone video editing skills! We need a short video for our website and social media accounts showing how our volunteers quality check and catalogue the tins of paint donated to our charity, to give prospective customers confidence in the quality of what they're buying. We don't need an expert - near enough is good enough for us! Can you help?

Corporate Bushcare days involves a brief training induction followed by weeding mulching and planting and goes for about 4hrs with a break. Please wear suitable clothes and covered shoes. The Media & Marketing Coordinator for PNB: Liaise with media outlets and what’s on listings. Plans and implements the marketing and promotions for PNB including special events, meetings, workshops and tours. Liaises with media contacts as necessary to promote PNB activities including news releases. Builds on the PNB media contact list for development and use at events. Works closely with the committee members such as the events, and education organisers to promote our activities.

Based at 83 Princes Highway in St Peters, Circle Paints is Australia's first paint rescue charity. We would LOVE your help to sort and catalogue donated paint, so people who need cheap and environmentally friendly paint can find what they need.

James Craig is a magnificent operating tall ship – a 3-masted barque built in 1874 so she is now 148 years old – and she needs you to help look after her!

From a rusted skeletal hulk in Recherche Bay Tasmania, she has been completely rebuilt by the volunteers at Sydney Heritage Fleet and now makes harbour and ocean voyages for the public often setting all of her 21 sails. Keeping her seaworthy needs constant attention , to paintwork, woodwork, rigging and deck caulking. We need you to join the happy team who carry out this work regularly on the ship.

Join the crew at the Australian National Maritime Museum. Veterans can join as volunteers thanks to a new program in partnership with Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC). Volunteers will receive training and join a variety of interesting roles that match their skills, experience, interests, and preferences. Roles are flexible and open to all ages.
