We need volunteers to drive children books at our office and warehouse, the books are needed for our monthly donation, to refill pop-up libraries in some regions of Melbourne. Our organisation aims to promote the importance of reading from early years and create a love and habit or reading.

Kororoit Creek Neighbourhood House is looking for volunteers who can read with students, help with their homework, run games or activities (sport, art, music, science etc) or even just help prepare healthy snacks. Our homework club works with primary school children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in Sunshine, Albion and surrounding suburbs to support their learning and confidence.

The primary aim of the program is to provide a supportive environment where children can receive individual tutoring for basic literacy and numeracy skills and/or assistance with homework tasks (e.g. reading). The tutor works one to one with a Year 3-8 student every Wednesday afternoon during the school terms. Tutor will need to be available during 3.15pm to 6pm.

The volunteer tutor provides educational support after school hours to students enrolled in local schools in the City of Whittlesea.

This position is appointed by the Board to fill a casual vacancy for a three year term, with the ability to seek reappointment for up to nine years. The role is responsible for fulfilling the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee’s terms of reference, primarily to assist the Board in maintaining a sound corporate governance framework and undertaking its fiduciary duties and responsibilities. The role leads a Committee of a minimum of three members.
