This year’s Refugee Week theme “Finding Freedom” has a focus on family and encapsulates the profound journey of resilience, strength, and unity that defines the refugee experience. SSI will be celebrating this year's Refugee Week on 16th June (11:00 - 3:00) with an event at the Community Refugee Welcome Centre with music, food and more!

Held every winter, the STEPS Grand Winter Ball raises funds for STEPS Pathways Charity, helping to create a brighter future for young people with disability and autism. The Grand Winter Ball is a prestigious black-tie event - an enchanting night of celebration, fine dining, live entertainment, generosity, joy, and warmth as the community spirit of our region shines.

The Volunteers primary role is to assist the participants to ride a wave! Each participant has a different disability which can either be physical, intellectual or both. Disabled Surfers Association - SA Branch assist them to enjoy the experience of surfing & ensure they stay safe & injury free in the process. A surfing background is an advantage for volunteers but not essential. However you need to be a physically fit, aged 17+ & be comfortable in the water for periods of up to 2 hours.

2 volunteers required for on-day roles: assisting with setting up poolside, Registration check-in desk, Selling raffle tickets, collecting donations, and cheering on the swimmers. •Neat casual attire, enclosed non-slip footwear – you will be working in and around the Aquatic Centre pool. •Food and drink refreshments will be provided. •A briefing will take place on the day. •Knowledge of EFTPOS machine •Suitable for skilled volunteers, work experience, young adults. Start times of 7 am – 11 pm
