Diabetes Victoria is holding a diabetes education event for the Vietnamese community on May 28, and looking for Vietnamese speaking volunteers to provide in-language support to attendees. We have 4 volunteer roles available. The Break charity assists new authors to get their stories out. One of our authors, a very experienced counsellor, has written a pioneering new form of self-help book. We need a graphic artist who can create several graphics to demonstrate the sequential steps in a new counselling process & a book cover design.

The key role of community connector volunteers in this project is to assist with enabling socially isolated people (primarily 65+) who have been referred from a range of services, including health practitioners, to determine what community activities they would like to participate in and overcome any barriers to participation.

Volunteers are the backbone to our harm minimization services ( Needle & Syringe Program ) and assist in community events for Health Promotion to reduce and eliminate viral Hepatitis. Clients are from all walks of life and include PWID, those experiencing trauma, may be street present, itinerant, living with AOD or other complex issues.
