The Volunteer Tutor Scheme is a program that helps migrants and refugees who are unable to attend AMEP English classes, with one on one lessons for 1 hour per week. Anyone can become a volunteer tutor, even if you’re not a native English speaker. All you need is confidence in English, access to transport and the desire to help others learn. You will be helping people to access basic services and connect with the community, thereby having a huge impact on their ability to settle in Australia.

We need adult volunteers to judge primary and secondary school debates at various locations across Brisbane City, Brisbane suburbs, Redlands, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Gold Coast and Toowoomba. Volunteers will listen to two or three debates an evening and are expected to deliver an oral adjudication to outline the winning team whilst encouraging students with suggestions on how they can improve and how they can debate better.

The learning support volunteer assists students and teachers in the classroom or in other areas of the school. Other roles include assisting in the school library or gardens.

Key responsibilities We provide a home library service for community members who are unable to attend the library to select their own items. Home Library Service Couriers support this service by visiting clients in their homes to deliver and return bags of library items. Take your dog into a local Rockingham / Baldivis school on the same morning each week for approx. 2 hours during school terms. You will see a total of 4 or 5 children. Each child will come out of their classroom and sit with you and your dog for approx. 20 minutes. You must be able to commit for at least two school terms or more.

Knowledge of push bike repair and maintenance is needed. Students will also be supported by school staff.
