An opportunity for those who love model/miniature railways. We have a 7 ¼” gauge railway around the grounds that is available to visitors most days we are open. We have 3 locomotives (Steam, petrol, hydraulic). We are looking for someone who will be a practical leading-hand for this museum activity: From driving to track-work. The line has opportunities for development and a range of projects are possible with the right person to take the lead.

Pearn's Steam World has one of the best collection of agricultural steam engines, tractors and other farming artifacts in Australia. These need maintenance, preservation, restoration, or rebuilding depending on their condition. We welcome anyone with the skills and/or aptitude to join the team who care for the collection. The collection ranges from large steam engines to small items such as hand-cranked seeders and butter churns.

Each Saturday from 12:30pm-1:30pm four dedicated volunteers help to pack down all the public seating, marquees and infrastructure that is used in the public spaces at the market. These areas are what sets our beautiful market apart from other markets, and gives us our true community feel. This role requires a moderate amount of manual handling including bending, lifting and moving marquee weights (up to 20kg)

Don't throw it, repair it! Repair Cafes are a global movement aimed at reducing waste, sharing skills and building community. The Eastside Repair Café launched recently on Hobart’s sunny eastern shore, and is held on the last Saturday of each month. We need more volunteers to help us deliver this wonderful community initiative, doing a range of roles including fixing things, sewing things and generally helping with things!
