MDFA's Peer Support Groups provide a safe and welcoming space for people living with aged-related macular degeneration to share their stories and ask questions of their peers. The Facilitator role is well suited to someone with good communications skills and confidence in public speaking. Ideally you will have experience facilitating a support group and/or demonstrate the ability to lead a balanced discussion. Personal experience with macular disease is desirable, not necessary.

An opportunity for those who love model/miniature railways. We have a 7 ¼” gauge railway around the grounds that is available to visitors most days we are open. We have 3 locomotives (Steam, petrol, hydraulic). We are looking for someone who will be a practical leading-hand for this museum activity: From driving to track-work. Pearn's Steam World has one of the best collection of agricultural steam engines, tractors and other farming artifacts in Australia. These need maintenance, preservation, restoration, or rebuilding depending on their condition. We welcome anyone with the skills and/or aptitude to join the team who care for the collection. The collection ranges from large steam engines to small items such as hand-cranked seeders and butter churns.

Welcoming visitors to the museum, collecting the entry fee, giving a brief outline of the museum and its layout, selling items from the shop. Opening and closing the museum. Other opportunities include: Driving the miniature train, assisting in the museum's administration, and researching the stories behind the objects.
