Volunteers play a vital role in helping St Mary’s House of Welcome (SMHOW) achieve its mission and provide invaluable support across many areas of the organisation. The purpose of the Kitchen Service Volunteer role is to prepare and serve food for the SMHOW service users so that they can enjoy a nutritious meal which they otherwise may not be able to access.

Our Meals Program is looking for new volunteers, if you can help out on a weekly or fortnightly basis come join our team. We are currently specifically looking for volunteer's available in the morning throughout the week.

This role will take responsibility for overseeing the deliveries and food collections including responsibility for food safety The role involves overseeing a team of volunteers who will pack, unpack food and may need to re-pack food into smaller units. Must also oversee the record keeping of volumes of food handled

Soul Kitchen operates every Sunday night at Braybrook Community Hub (Braybrook) with a dedicated team of volunteers who not only prepare an amazingly nutritious dinner, but who also share this meal with those who may be struggling to make ends meet. Soul Kitchen brings the local community together in a safe and respectful environment for anyone who wishes to socialise, share a meal, have a load of washing done, or get a haircut.

Peplow House provides short-term crisis accommodation for single men aged 18 years and over who are homeless. Support is also provided to help individuals access longer term accommodation, and address issues that are impacting opportunities for longer term accommodation. Support worker is needed to provide assistance to the Peplow House staff. Administrative tasks, with the opportunity to go on visits to the cinema, parks, sports with the staff and residents.

Some food may need to be stored in the Hub for later collection. Help physically sort and pack food for distribution to the food relief agencies we support.

We are in need of an experienced and competent driver of our little van "The Moving Wardrobe" to take clothes out to the homeless during the day and also at nights. If you have a few hours to spare perhaps you will consider becoming one of our team to help out.

Maroondah Winter Shelter provides a safe and warm place for homeless males to stay overnight during the winter months, 7 nights per week. Home cooked meals are provided. As a volunteer you would be making a difference to the lives of those who have been sleeping rough. Being able to listen, show care and treat our guests with dignity and compassion is what we ask for.
