As the Learning and development Officer you will be responsible for developing and implementing a program of work aligned to the G2K’s Training Strategy and Plan to build best practice in training and competency. You will also be responsible for organizing and facilitating various training programs and events as per training needs of the project.

The key role of community connector volunteers in this project is to assist with enabling socially isolated people (primarily 65+) who have been referred from a range of services, including health practitioners, to determine what community activities they would like to participate in and overcome any barriers to participation.

We have an opportunity for people to be a part of the Volunteer Gardening Program within the grounds of the COUCH Cancer Wellness Centre in Cairns. A great opportunity to have a horticultural experience whilst maintaining the tranquil grounds of the Centre. You will be a part of a Gardening Team at our Cancer Wellness Centre, maintaining the tranquil space that supports the well-being of our clients, families, and carers.

Volunteers are required to assist with gardening duties in the Wesley Kids garden area. This area is used for activities with children, outdoor eating and relaxing, and includes a small herb garden.

Volunteers are the backbone to our harm minimization services ( Needle & Syringe Program ) and assist in community events for Health Promotion to reduce and eliminate viral Hepatitis. Clients are from all walks of life and include PWID, those experiencing trauma, may be street present, itinerant, living with AOD or other complex issues.
