About this opportunity

Meals on Wheels Volunteer Helpers deliver meals to older people and people with a disability living in the Parramatta LGA on week day mornings. Helpers are paired with a driver and are responsible for delivering meals from our Hunter Street office to participants' homes. Bring a smile and a friendly conversation to a person we support.

Essential qualifications:

  1. Access to a comprehensively insured motor vehicle
  2. Able to volunteer from 8:30am onwards
  3. Reliable with flexible availability
  4. Physically mobile and able to carry 5-10 kilograms using a trolley
  5. Able to commit for a period of time, for example, minimum 6 months.
  6. Able to work in partnership with your helper
  7. Respectful with paid staff, volunteers and the people you are delivering to.

Desirable skills, attributes, qualifications:

  1. Friendly and enjoy talking with staff, volunteers and clients
  2. Experience dealing with older people and people with disabilities
  3. Experience dealing with difficult people

ABOUT US: Parramatta’s Community Care Team provides services for older people, adults living with a disability and carers of these people. Our team of 75 Volunteers are vital to our services. Volunteers are supported with training, travel reimbursements, and ongoing supervision and support. There are opportunities to socialise with other volunteers throughout the year and be a part of a valued team. If you are reliable and have a passion for helping your community, we'd love you to consider joining our team of volunteers. All volunteers must undergo a criminal record check and provide 2 referees.

Reimbursement
