Our steam tug Waratah built 1902 at Cockatoo Island badly needs help to maintain paintwork by removing and treating rust, then re-painting. Sydney Heritage Fleet is voluntary group dedicated to preserving, restoring and operating vessels representing our Maritime history. We own in addition to many smaller boats, the former VIP steam yacht Lady Hopetoun, ex-Moreton Bay pilot steamer John Oxley, and the mighty 1,000 passenger double-ended Sydney Harbour Ferry Kanangra

You will be required to take a 4hr driver training course with an NRMA approved trainer & have a medical with your GP - both at Anglicare's expense.

Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney provides social support for people over 65 years or older. The volunteers form a part of the Community Services team and provide a variety of services for older clients, including transport to appointments, companionship visits or accompanied shopping. We provide services from Chatswood to Berowra so prefer our volunteers to live on the Lower to Upper North Shore of Sydney.

The Sydney Heritage Fleet Workshops in Rozelle Bay is a busy hive of activity. Our main restoration project is steamer John Oxley, and there are many regularly used vessels on which maintenance is essential. Our current major project is the restoration to full ocean-going condition of John Oxley a former Moreton Bay pilot steamer, 760 tons. You, the volunteer will be a skilled welder and steel fabricator to aid in the final stages of hull restoration, particularly the forecastle. Your team leader is gentle giant whose welding surpasses marine standard for boiler work.
