The group leader provides communication opportunity for people who have experienced a stroke or brain injury. For many members of the group, this is their only experience to communicate with a person who understands their difficulty, is genuinely interested in their opinions, and is prepared to help them find a way to express themselves. The role facilitates interaction practise between each member and the leader, as well as between all group members.

Volunteers required to assist with transporting the Friends of the Community Food and Coffee vans to venues and events then returning to them to their headquarters in Spearwood. All funds raised are all returned to the community through Aged, Disabled and Disadvantaged.

These groups assist people with communication difficulties after stroke or brain injury, to practise conversation skills. Primarily, this role involves supporting the leaders of these groups, recruiting and training new volunteer leaders, and providing the groups with up-to-date information, up-coming events and resources.
