ECOSS thrives on the wonderful input from our Volunteers. It would be very difficult for ECOSS to develop and progress the way we do without our Volunteers. From working in the nursery and in our gardens. including the Community Garden, helping with our projects and events to helping in the office, our volunteers give a large amount of time. We value your skills and would love to create opportunities that interest you. We like to provide co-learning opportunities for skill sharing.

Your basic sewing machine skills, or willingness to learn, will be useful in this role sewing wildlife rescue pouches and basket liners. Only straight line sewing, and patterns are cut along straight lines. All equipment is provided. Pouches and liners are sewn to specific sizes and designs and are given to local wildlife carers as needed. Timing is flexible - between 8am and 1pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

OzHarvest, Australia's leading food rescue organisation, requires the services of a Volunteer Food Rescue Assistant, to assist our Van Driver in collecting quality surplus food from the food industry and distributing it, same day, to local charities who provide food relief to people experiencing food insecurity in our Cairns community, as well as reducing the environmental impact of food waste!

Repair Lab Melville is a community event run by volunteers who use their skills to help people repair items that would otherwise be discarded and sent to landfill. Repair Lab Assistants will help set up and pack up the event, help Repair Lab Melville attendees to carry items for repair into the venue, answer general enquiries and direct attendees to repair stations.

We need a local with a suitable camera and editing software to produce a series of short videos for uploading to the net.

If you have a decent camera and like to record stuff, we need a local who is available on periodic short notice to come to our premises and photograph techniques and incoming animal cases. These are for future use on our website. We also receive requests from lots of people wanting photographs for their social media pages. Before our President can comply, the images need to be chosen, scanned and watermarked. It would be great if the photography co-ord has basic skills with Fireworks.
