A Consumer Advisor is a member of our community who can voice a lived experience of health care at Western Health. They participate in committees, focus groups, projects and a range of other activities to ensure the patient perspective is always considered. The key role of community connector volunteers in this project is to assist with enabling socially isolated people (primarily 65+) who have been referred from a range of services, including health practitioners, to determine what community activities they would like to participate in and overcome any barriers to participation.

We are looking for people who can share some time to work with residents in sharing a space to explore mindfulness and reflection. This is a proven practice for people to be in the moment and reflect on their environment and their wellbeing.

We have a large suite of programs to offer the public. We are expanding into the City of Knox from Break 40 Cafe at 40/1880 Ferntree Gully Rd. We need local volunteers to assist us to recruit participants to our programs and to help cement these programs as regular fixtures for the local community. These are all groups with a therapeutic angle (eg men's & women's support groups, artistic expression opportunity groups like open mic nights, kids breakfast club or after-school safe spaces.
