About this opportunity

This new resident transition to care role is spending the first 12 weeks supporting individual resident's as they come into our homes. Each week you would share 1/ a day with the resident supporting their transition, emotional support, connections and supports in settling into their new home. This is a very valuable role where you foster friendships, establish rapport and reduce isolation, maintain social skills and share information and knowledge with the residents and their loved ones You would also support the person to maintain contact with previous communities of significance and promote a sense of purpose improving ones wellbeing.

  • Good communication skills
  • Non judgmental, tolerant attitude
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to work as part of a team and without constant direct supervision
  • Ability to seek assistance when required
  • Ability to use initiative and problem solve and understand boundaries

All volunteers must have the annual Influenza vaccinations, triple Covid vaccinations and a Police clearance to work with vulnerable persons.

Time Required

1-2 times per week but the days and times can be negotiated on commencement.
