About this opportunity
The position requires people over 25 who have held their licence (C) for at least 1 year. Volunteers will be driving either a car or bus either locally, regionally or to Adelaide city for client purposes such as (but not limited to) health and medical services, social and community activities and daily living activities. Person will need to demonstrate empathy and caring towards clients. Ability to work within a team environment and willingness to work without supervision. The position requires a commitment of at least 6 months. The Southern Communities Transport Scheme service is provided Monday to Friday with hours determined by client's needs (which can range from 5am to 5pm). The volunteer must also attend regular meetings and training deemed to be essential for your role.

A compassionate person who enjoys assisting the elderly, people with disabilities and those disadvantaged. A confident, licenced driver who is willing to drive clients locally and to Adelaide - would be an advantage to have knowledge of Adelaide and negotiate city traffic. Will need to have good communication skills, be punctual, reliable and able to work without supervision. All new volunteers must attend City of Victor Harbor Introduction to volunteering and complete ALL sections of Department of Transport and Infrastructure Volunteer Driver Accreditation Program. A driving assessment is required for this role, DHS Clearances are also required.
City of Victor Harbor has now endorsed a COVID-19 Vaccination Policy and this requires all workers recruited after commencement of the policy to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, before commencement with Council, and states that workers will be required to maintain their full vaccination status for the term of their role with Council.
