About this opportunity
Geraldton Historical Society is looking for multiple Museum Assistant Volunteers for the Lighthouse Keepers Cottage Museum.
The museum houses an extensive collection of historical photos, research & reference material, as well as displays of Heritage lifestyle objects regarding the history of the region.
The museum is open on Thursdays & Fridays.
As Museum Assistant volunteers, your tasks would range from the following:
- Opening the Museum two days a week, more if we have sufficient volunteers.
- Greeting, recording visitor numbers and taking entrance fees.
- If visitors wish to purchase books, receive and record book titles & cost.
- Assisting with the cleaning and dusting of the Museum display items.
- Collating brochures
- Assisting with displays
- Any chores that arise in the running of the Museum
We would welcome volunteers who may be interested in gardening to assist in upgrading the existing garden and grounds.
Past Volunteers have enjoyed the role of Museum Assistant, as it provides a friendly environment, as well as sharing our history with visitors and the camaraderie of fellow volunteers
The Volunteer will work along side with another committee member or volunteer. On the job training will be provided!
Tea & Coffee is provided for volunteers.

Additional requirements
Driver's Licence . National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.
- Computer skills, but not compulsory.
- Good communication skills
- General knowledge of the history of Geraldton and the Mid West. Self guide material of the museum is available and volunteers will be assisted in learning our history.
Thursday 10am -3.30pm and Friday 10am -3.30pm
