About the Role
As a Support Volunteer, you will help us to provide emotional support to people who are in need via phone, email or in person. Volunteers typically complete a three-hour shift on a day and time of their choosing, once a week or once a fortnight.

The intake process involves several stages, including a selection event, interview, and extensive training. Volunteer applicants who are successful in both the selection event and interview, will be invited to take part in training. Held across eight consecutive weeks, this mandatory training consists of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and communication and interpersonal skills specific to the Samaritans philosophy.
National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.
Must be able to relate easily to other people, have a clear speaking voice and a good grasp of the English language, be non-judgemental and a good listener.
Minimum of one 3 hr shift per week, but we ideally need people who can also commit to overnight and weekend shifts regularly as well.Suitable for
