About this opportunity

Volunteering in a hospital opens up many possibilities for you where you can utilise your skills to make a difference in the lives of our patients and staff. There are a diversity of interesting and engaging roles that may interest you including admin, assisting in the patient gym, providing nurturing foot massages, beauticians, hairdressers, musicians, arts and crafts, assisting at meal times, brief biographies, consumer reps on Standards Committees, jolly trolley to name just a few of the roles that are available to you.

You need to have the ability to be deeply respectful of our patient’s (their religious/cultural beliefs etc.) … to be flexible, reliable and work well within a team environment. Due to the nature of this role, the organisation would prefer that volunteers make a longer term commitment to these positions to ensure the continuity of care we aim to provide.

Training is provided to ensure you feel comfortable and safe working in the hospital.

Initial training program - one day (Wed) per week for 2 weeks 9.30am - 3.30pm. This is compulsory for all volunteers. Various roles within the hospital are available.

Police checks, references and NSW Health Immunisation are a mandatory requirement.

National Police Certificate *.

Mandatory Requirements for volunteers working in Health.
• Police check
• NSW Health Immunisation compliance
o Category A: working in clinical areas- (Covid x3, Flu Vax,Hep B, DtpA, MMR).
o Category B: working in Admin non clinical: (CoVid x 3 and Flu Vax)
• References x 2 (not family or friends)
• Mandatory training: ELearning and 2 day face to face training to prepare volunteer to work safely in a health care environment.
WWCC for volunteers working in the Community

Time Required

7.30am-11.30am/10am-1pm/3pm-6pm (3-4 hour shifts). Flexible over 7 days. 3-8 hours per week.
