Experienced Female Aged Care Visitor - Wynnum
About this opportunity
We are looking for a kind, caring, experienced lady to become a Volunteer Visitor and provide friendship to a socially isolated lady living in an Aged Care home in the Wynnum area. Understanding of ageing and dementia, would be preferable for this role.
Visits may include taking her for a walk in her wheelchair in the gardens of the home; visiting the onsite cafe together and encouraging her with gentle conversation; doing a simple craft activity; or perhaps playing a simple game together (eg. the memory game). Our resident's interests include - drawing, colouring in, listening to music, watching movies and she loves animals - especially horses!
Regular fortnightly visits provide the resident with valuable friendship. Through this regular one-to-one visiting great friendships can be formed. These visits from a Volunteer Visitor can help to improve the quality of life of the older person and help them to feel less socially isolated.
Volunteering as a Volunteer Visitor can be a very rewarding experience. By becoming a friend to an older person, you can make a positive difference to their lives as well as your own.
