Permaculturalist /Green Thumbed Gardener
About this opportunity
Join our volunteer team in West Swan and be part of our ongoing permaculture and gardening efforts!
Gardening duties: weeding, digging, pruning, planting, and using equipment such as whipper snippers and mowers.
- Keeping paths clean, doing general repairs, and assisting with ad hoc tasks.
- Supporting the development of our permaculture site.
- Helping to prepare produce for sale when needed.
- Assisting with animal care including chickens, ducks, goats, and bees as required.
- Maintain and ensure equipment is in good working order.
Additional requirements
National Police Certificate *.
• Basic gardening skills and knowledge to be able to carry out the jobs as requested.
• Ability to follow guidelines, work as part of a team and independently.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to commit to at least 1 session a week for a minimum of 6 months.
• Be physically capable of undertaking tasks.
• A desire to make a difference and enjoy being outdoors in all weather.
• Working on own initiative and problem-solving skills.
• Have a calm, patient, and positive approach when working with staff and other volunteers, and to respect their needs and ways of working is essential.
• The ability to work in a sensitive way within the environment which will include various levels of those who have membership, and their families.
• A willingness to participate in other GFS Perth volunteer opportunities / meetings / functions as appropriate.
• Volunteers are required to wear appropriate clothing and protective wear e.g. safety shoes/boots.
