Ruby on Rails Developer (AUS and NZ wide role)

We are looking to recruit a Ruby on Rails developer who will be part of the Technology Team and lead the development of Hackerspace and carry out the following tasks:
Maintenance of the existing system
Development of new features
Supporting the scalability and capacity management (with guidance from lead developers)

Additional requirements
Strong understanding of web technologies used in GovHack systems
- Technically skilled in Ruby on Rails (required), HTML, CSS, Javascript, UX and UI skills
- Knowledge of GovHack or a similar large scale Hackathon
- Experience with any code repository (e.g. GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket, Azure Repos)
The expected work hours during the first phase (Feb- April) of this role will be around 2 hours/ week, as you begin planning your approach and setting up systems. In preparation for the competition weekend (Sept) you will be expected to work around 6 hours during the second phase (May – August). During the third phase (Sep – Dec) you will initially be ensuring the system works during the judging process before moving on to preparing for the next year and working on Hackerspace as required.
