About the role

Our volunteers form part of our Kindness Crew and are instrumental in reducing isolation and loneliness for older Australians in our community.

Our Participants are looking for:

  • Mature aged female volunteers (preferred) who are comfortable being matched with a female or male Participant (advise of your preference in your EOI).
  • Volunteers who share similar interests in baking/cooking, word/brain games, cross stitch, arts/crafts, exercise, reading, music, gardening, animals, travel (our male Participant loves travel and is wanting to swap travel stories).
  • Flexibility with availability.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Participating in weekly 1-hour digital visits with your matched Participant.
  • Chat with your Participant, listen to their stories and provide social connection.
  • Logging shifts in Polixen app and completing monthly support check-in email (or call).
  • Working in a safe manner and reporting any incidents or concerns.
  • Reviewing/responding to emails/calls in a timely manner.
  • Completing online training, where required and attending recognition events, as required.
  • Abiding by the organisation's policies, procedures, and guidelines.

We aim to complete the onboarding process in less than 7 days.

Our Connect2One Digital Visiting Volunteers should be confident building rapport and initiating conversation starters, have a warm and friendly demeanour and volunteer within the scope of the role.

In addition to a willingness to complete a National Police Check through Inclusee (and Statutory Declaration in some cases): be 18 years and over, due to insurance purposes; have the right to work/volunteer in Australia; have excellent communication skills.

As this is a volunteer from home role, you will need your own computer or laptop, reliable internet, telephone and email address.

Time Required

Day and time as per mutually agreed. Digital visits are minimum 1-hour per week plus 15 mins allocated to log shifts and complete Monthly Support form. We have participants seeking Sunday visits (12pm-3pm) and weekday afternoons.
