Hairdresser/Barber

Community Services Regular - more than 6 months Geraldton WA

About this opportunity

Barbers/Hairdressers needed!

If you’re a community-minded Hairdresser or Barber, and motivated to make a difference, this may be the perfect role for you.

We are thrilled to announce the introduction of new services to the Geraldton area, where we will be offering pop-up hairdressing and barber services at various community service organisations. These services are designed to support individuals experiencing homelessness or financial insecurity in our community and will be available at drop-in service hubs or transitional housing facilities.

As part of this initiative, we are actively seeking dedicated hairdressers and barbers to join us in supporting the community. We invite you to contribute your expertise for 2-hour sessions on either a Monday or a Wednesday. These sessions will occur monthly or every 6 weeks at each of the selected locations in Geraldton. Your involvement will play a vital role in improving the well-being and confidence of those in need, creating a positive impact in our community. Join us in making a difference and transforming lives through this meaningful endeavor!

Requirement:

  • Be a qualified hairdresser with confidence in scissor and clipper skills (2+ year apprentices are welcome to apply, but will be supervised by a qualified hairdresser)
  • Ability to trim beards and moustaches
  • Confidence in all type of hair styles (barbering fade and lines are a bonus but not essential)
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have an outgoing and friendly personality
  • Be available on a Monday or Wednesday at least once a month.

What support do you get?

The Short Back and Sidewalks team will deliver an induction so you can learn more about what we do and how we do it. On your first service, you will be allocated a buddy who is an experienced volunteer to orient you at your first service location and to help you on your volunteering journey. Our WA Operations Coordinators are regularly in contact with you, to answer any questions you have and to work with your availability.

Are you eager to get involved? We would love to hear from you.
