About this opportunity
: Best Volunteer Opportunity Ever! Sailing Experiences for children with disabilities or experiencing social challenges We’re looking for committed/dedicated volunteers to help run our sailing programs on large racing yachts. Some sailing experience is preferred but not essential, however a love of helping young people be the best they can be is a must. You’ll sail with and mentor our very excited young clients, many of whom have a disability or come from socially challenged backgrounds. You will be part of a dynamic, passionate and well-trained team. Our programs range from once -off sailing experiences to term-based programs that provide opportunities for personal growth and skill development. According to one volunteer, ‘Making Waves is an organisation that nurtures both the participants and volunteers to achieve things that are beyond their expectation or imagination’. Volunteers should - • Enjoy engaging with young people. • Enjoy working in a collaborative and positive environment. • Have a current Working with Children Check. (We can advise on how to obtain) • Be available regularly on weekdays, during the school term. • Be empathetic and able to follow procedures.
