Visit isolated Thai lady in aged care in Mount Waverley
About this opportunity
Volunteer visitors are needed to visit socially and culturally isolated residents in Aged Care Homes and in their own homes located in the City of Monash. We need people over 18 years of age who love to chat, are patient and enjoy the company of older people. These positions can be challenging but very rewarding. The role may include having a coffee together, reading to them, holding their hand for comfort and taking them out in the garden. The following skills are highly desirable in a volunteer visitor:
- Must be able to converse in a language other than English.
- A genuine empathy and understanding of older people
- Good communication and listening skills
- The ability to work independently
- A commitment to developing a strong relationship with an older person and the Aged Care Community Visitors program
- Willingness to act with integrity, respect, confidentiality and dignity and the ability to be flexible Can you give 1 hour per week or fortnight to visit a socially isolated resident?
Additional requirements
Covid-19 vaccination . Flu vaccination . National Police Certificate *.
Mandatory training as required
