Eastlakes is a warm, welcoming, and community-minded church in Belmont North. With Café 360 open 3 days a week, a community pantry, play groups and support groups happening all through the week, everyone is welcome and our car park and grounds are very busy. Come join our team! 🌾🐛 The Gardening Team Member Position Overview:
Role: The Gardening Team Member plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of garden areas for the community. This position is responsible for maintaining beautiful, peaceful, and bountiful spaces through a combination of practical and aesthetic gardening activities. 🌿🌼
Responsibilities:
Gardening Activities:
Regular maintenance tasks such as sweeping, raking, mowing, weeding, pruning, mulching, composting, and watering. 🚜💧 Undertaking ongoing seasonal tasks to keep the harvest garden productive and pest-free. 🌾🐛 Garden Projects:
Collaborating with the manager to plan and execute garden projects, including the construction of garden beds, paths, and other features. 🏡🛠️ Demonstrating vision, creativity, and project management skills. 🎨📊 Garden Equipment:
Ensuring responsible use, maintenance, and storage of gardening tools and equipment. 🔧🧹 Conducting regular checks to guarantee tools are in safe working order. 👷♂️🛠️
Knowledge and Experience:
Required knowledge and experience in plants, soils, seasonal maintenance, and small gardening projects. 🌱📚 Tool Proficiency:
Confidence in using and caring for gardening tools and equipment. 🧤🌳 Physical Fitness:
Adequate fitness level to undertake various gardening activities, including soil digging and lifting. 💪🏽🏋️♂️ Communication Skills:
Good communication skills for effective information exchange, listening, and conveying ideas or suggestions. 🗣️💬
Background Check Requirements:
This role necessitates access to valuable equipment and unsupervised entry to secure areas. Requires a Police Check due to the nature of the responsibilities. 🚨👮 In some states, may be considered child-related, requiring a Working with Children Check/Working with Vulnerable People Check. 🧒🔍
Time Required & Commitment: The time commitment will be agreed upon with the manager based on operational needs. 📆⏰

Additional requirements
A National Police Check
A few hours a week between Monday-Wednesday from 9am-3pm.

This role will give volunteers an opportunity to develop skills and experience in garden maintenance and projects, thinking innovatively and expressing ideas, as well as working with a team to achieve common goals. Mandatory training will provided in WHS, Safeguarding and Code of Conduct.
