About this opportunity

• Prepare food for clients. All food and drinks must be covered before delivery to client rooms. • Deliver food to clients; inform Registered Nurse if client needs to change position (e.g. to sit on side of bed, or on chair; this is important as they may be disoriented or not as capable as they appear). Volunteers should never attempt to move or assist clients. • Attend to kitchen housekeeping: collect and wipe trays, wash and sanitize dishes, tidy kitchen, clean and sanitize bench tops and bench doors. • Label and date all foods left in fridge or frozen in freezer. • Record items needing re-stocking on the laminated kitchen order forms near the fridge. • Wipe sink, basin, and taps; refill soap and paper towel dispensers if required (refills in Cleaners' Room). • If groceries have arrived, unpack, check off invoice, check integrity of packaging and put away; pin account to board next to fridge. Spray and clean bench after unpacking groceries. • Clean microwave after use. • Clean stove after use. • Perform any other duties according to Kitchen Cleaning Checklist, located at the Nurses' Station. • Mop kitchen floor once per day or at other times as needed. • Dispose of hat and gloves in general waste bin. • Place aprons, tea towels and blue chux in white bucket in laundry for washing -

Time Required

Kitchen Volunteers generally work once a week on one of the following shifts: • Breakfast: 7:30 am to 9:30 am • Lunch: 10:30 am to 1:30 pm • Dinner: 4:45 pm to 7:00 pm
