Working alongside your volunteer coordinator, project coordinator and/or therapist, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of those who rely on specialized equipment to assist them with their daily tasks.

Your responsibilities will include identifying the unique needs of each client, selecting appropriate materials and technologies, and designing and constructing customized equipment to fit their specific requirements. To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent problem-solving skills, strong technical knowledge, and a passion for making a positive difference in people's lives. Your ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with clients will also be essential.

Key Responsibilities and duties:

  • Design, make or modify aids and equipment for people with a disability or the frail aged when there is no commercial solution available.

  • Work with the volunteer coordinator, project coordinator and/or therapist to identify the specific needs of the individual.

  • Ensure that the equipment is individualized and meets the specific needs of the individual.

  • Test and adjust equipment as needed to ensure it is functioning properly and meets the needs of the individual.

  • Work within budget and time constraints to deliver the equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Accept projects within capabilities on the basis you are able to complete them in a reasonable time frame, most are completed within a month however more complex projects may take several months

  • Complete a written project report and photos at the conclusion of each project
