What is the Broncos Learner Driver Program? The Broncos Learner Driver Mentor Program supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students get free access to supervised driving lessons to work towards obtaining their driver license.

Our students are matched with a Broncos Volunteer mentor who will supervise their driving in our designated program vehicle. The Broncos Learner Driver Program will operate in the Ipswich region across three Beyond The Broncos high schools.

To Become a Broncos Volunteer Mentor:

  • Be over the age of 25
  • Hold a current Old Open Drivers License for over 12 months
  • Have a current QLD and/or NSW Working with Children Check
  • Can commit to a minimum of one school term (10 weeks)
  • Give a minimum of 3-4 hours per week

All applicants MUST hold a current Open Drivers Licence (for 1 year minimum) and QLD Blue Card or NSW Working with Children Check to be considered. Please clearly articulate this in your application.

Time Required

Volunteer Mentors are expected to commit to one day per week and one full term (10 weeks). Within each week, mentors can choose between 1-5 days depending on each school, working between 3-4 hours per chosen day(s). Monday to Friday -Morning shift times will be between 6am-8.30am and afternoon shifts 3pm-5:30pm
