About the role
The Maintenance Volunteer works alongside the Operations & Property Manager at ASRC Footscray to assist with the everyday maintenance and operations of the centre. Maintenance Volunteers are skilled in a wide range of repairs and keep our facilities in good condition by undertaking various odd jobs and performing maintenance.
Program
The Office Management team helps sustain the ASRC as a whole and improve the operational capacity of the centre. This program is responsible for operations and facilities management which are all integral to the everyday running of the ASRC.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting the Operations & Property Manager with daily facilities management projects and tasks as requested, including:
- Ongoing centre maintenance including coordinating repairs and checks
- Providing advice on potential construction and feasibility of future projects
- Undertake light installation or carpentry
- Attending basic plumbing issues (e.g. a blocked sink)
- Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks
- Responding to maintenance related OH&S issues
- Identifying and reporting the need for major repairs
- Taking the centre's fleet of cars to be serviced
Note: there is not requirement to complete electrical work unless the volunteer has relevant qualifications.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in facilities management or building maintenance would be an advantage
- Previous trade experience
- A hands-on approach to dealing with issues
- Demonstrated ability to use own initiative and ‘common sense’
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as effectively as part of a team
- A keen attention to detail and a passion for finding solutions to challenging problems
- Ability to provide own tools is desirable (car parking made available)
- Full Victorian drivers license is desirable

Heavy Lifting . National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.
Physical requirements of the role include: heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching above head, pushing heavy items on trolleys and standing for extended periods.
This role is looking for a commitment of 1-2 shifts per week for 6-12 months. Shifts available Wednesdays and/or Fridays, 10am - 3pm.
