NSW SES is a volunteer-based organisation that works with communities to prepare and respond to severe weather events and is the lead agency for flood, storm, and tsunami in NSW. We manage responses to these emergencies and help communities prepare through planning and education.

The NSW SES Ku-ring-gai Unit is seeking expressions of interest for the Membership Specialist role. This role is a non-operational volunteer position based at the Ku-ring-gai SES Unit in Wahroonga.

About the role: The Membership Specialist assists the Membership Co-ordinator and Deputy Co-ordinators with membership team duties, including:

  • Organising the new member on-boarding process
  • Managing membership-related documentation; and
  • Assisting with other tasks as requested by the Membership Co-ordinator, Unit Commander, Deputy Unit Commanders.

  • Friendly, professional, reliable; and have
  • Good communication skills
  • Computer skills
  • 16+ years of age; and
  • Covid-19 vaccinated

Time Required

The Unit meets each week on a Monday evening from 7pm to 9pm any additional hours required could be undertaken remotely. This role is a non-operational role allowing for the role holder to serve within another section during operational periods, if desired. This position is a service appointment held, subject to performance, for 12 months, after which time the position will be readvertised. Current holder will be eligible to reapply, subject to performance.

The successful applicant must be willing to complete the NSW SES volunteer application process, including a police background check, prior to the commencement of duties. They must also complete the Unit’s on-boarding training and have a willingness to further their knowledge and understanding of the SES.
