The Barrier Reef Orchestra would love to work with someone who is savvy with social media. We are keen to get our profile exposed on all forms of social media and make the orchestra visible to the whole of the Townsville Community.
The Barrier Reef Orchestra has been in existence for 21 years, and consists of local Townsville musicians, aged 15 to 70 yrs, providing 3 - 4 quality orchestral concerts to the Townsville community each year along with offering workshops for musicians as much as possible.
The orchestra is very keen to expand its audience and to let the whole Townsville community know that it exists and what it can offer. It has survived for the past 21 years on a small but loyal audience and membership base.
A strategic plan was developed last year with these values:

- Innovation - Finding new ways to enhance our profile and reach audiences
- Collaboration - Connecting and strengthening partnerships with our community and other arts organisations
- Excellence - Delivering high quality performances and nurturing high quality musicians
- Sustainability - Ensuring our resourcing, approach and policies allow us to continue our work
Our current membership is older people who are not skilled in producing social media, though many view both Facebook and Instagram. With limited time and skills in this area we are excited to work with someone who has the time and skills to bring us into the world of social media.
Passion and a genuine interest in expanding and building The Barrier Reef Orchestra's profile across all social media platforms. Knowledge of orchestral music is not needed but commitment and time to posting and updating social media is essential.
Maintaining and updating a minimum of Facebook and Instagram pages for the Barrier Reef Orchestra. Members can provide the information and photos. However, knowledge on how best to disseminate this information on these sites, frequency of posting, encouragement to like and most likely many other facts related to ensuring The Barrier Reef Orchestra build and then maintain a high social media profile is needed.
Using the statistics gained by The Barrier Reef Orchestra regarding how building this social media platform has enhanced their community profile and built their audience, will be an excellent reference to include on volunteers' future job applications if keen to work on a more permanent basis in this area.
