About this opportunity
MWP Community Care is a not for profit organisation who has been dedicated to supporting the well being and independence of older people on the Northern Beaches since 1967. Our volunteers are local people who are passionate about supporting other locals, providing services as well as enabling them to maintain their independence living in their own home.
We are looking for people that are friendly, empathetic, reliable, respectful and fun to join our wonderful team of volunteers to accompany our clients on either on an individual outing such as cafes, walks around the park, a drive or just visiting them in their homes for a cup of tea and chat.
Time required involves a maximum of two hours and volunteers are reimbursed 85c/km for their travel costs.
Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back, build an ongoing relationship with a client and help someone who needs that little bit of extra support to remain living independently in their own home.
You know that rich life experiences are indispensable. They’ve helped make up everything you are today. So just imagine how many valuable stories, lessons and experiences your elders can share with you. When you spend time volunteering with seniors, you’ll benefit just as much as they do—and you can learn a lot too!
Additional requirements
Covid-19 vaccination . Driver's Licence (C) . National Police Certificate *.
Sensitive and caring attitude and respect for the aged clients
Good listening and communication skills
Empathy
Safe driving record and own vehicle preferred but not essential
Mobile phone preferred but not essential
Be a Northern Beaches Resident
Police Check required which is reimbursable
Volunteer commitment is on weekdays only. We require a minimum of two hours either weekly, fortnightly or even monthly. We will work with your availability.
