Toast Room Coordinator
About this opportunity
Ignatius Park College is a Boys Catholic High School in the Edmund Rice Tradition. As part of the service ethos we encompass, we offer a toast service every morning of the week between 8:00am-8:30am for students who are still hungry or did not get a proper breakfast at home, to ensure they are fueled for learning for the day.
The role would be arriving before other volunteer students (usually 3-4) and turning the commercial toasters on and beginning to get the bread and spreads ready. Once the students arrive, roll up the door and all students and staff are free to grab some toast! Once the bell goes at 8:30am, toast is removed and the boys move to Homeroom. Then, a quick tidy up, getting bread from the freezer in preparation for the next day then the morning is done.
Volunteers in this capacity would love working in a school environment, outside of a classroom. The boys are always polite and are respectful of what the toast room offers them. An ideal volunteer would be willing to engage socially with the students; those helping out in the toast room and those outside.
Working in a school volunteer capacit ywould bring valuable experience in the operations of a school and as the toast room is adjoined to the tuck-shop, insight into the workings of a large tuckshop.
