Volunteer Web Developer and Webmaster

About this opportunity

This role requires you to have the appropriate experience, skills and self motivation to be able to complete the task without additional assistance.

Your responsibilities

  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical and organisational needs
  • Create website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices
  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases including partner organisations
  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
  • Maintain all aspects of the website and email administration
  • Create and maintain software documentation
  • Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling our site
  • Be aware of emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into our operations and activities
  • Work with other volunteers
  • As we may need to allocate the work to various volunteers, cooperate with other web designers to match visual design

About you You will have:

  • Proven working experience in web development and managing a website
  • A solid understanding of web applications including security, session management, and best development and administration practices
  • Knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation processes
  • An appreciation of the nature of volunteer work and the ability to be flexible
  • Strong organisational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines and budgets within a not-for-profit environment
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment,
  • Learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques

About SafeAustralasia Foundation As a newly established not-for-profit we are looking for an energetic website designer who will support our organisation’s website on a voluntary basis.

Our goal is to build awareness in safety across a series of initiatives across the community that include:

Additional requirements

Appropriate qualifications in Web Design and Site Management would be preferred

Time Required

Initially the task may require up to 15 hours a week to do the primary development. Once active, the site may only need a few hours a week to maintain unless a specific campaign requires additional work. We are flexible in working with any of your other commitments.
