Youth Support Worker - Make Your Own Picture Book

About this opportunity

We are seeking 6 enthusiastic and caring people to provide support to 9-11 year old children, during an exciting 5 week community project based at Ballajura Library. This project is targeted at children that may be facing challenging situations and will require volunteers who can build rapport and trust, and can provide respectful support with patience and understanding. Children will be challenged to write and illustrate their own books, as part of a Statewide "Make Your Own Picture Book" Competition.
Inspiration and step-by-step instruction will be provided by renowned writer and illustrator Sean Avery, and project coordination will be provided by the City of Swan Library Programs team. You'll be asked to provide encouragement and literacy support to participants as they complete their projects.

Additional requirements

Ability and enthusiasm to build rapport and trust with the young people on the project. Your understanding and encouragement will enable these young people to achieve their very best.

Time Required

Tuesday or Wednesday 3 - 5pm for the full 5 week project which will run from 28 Aprilto 29 May 2021.
