Tech help & community support for seniors (Regional WA)

Community Services Regular - more than 6 months Across: Albany WA, Northam WA, Toodyay WA, Geraldton WA, Bunbury WA, Busselton WA, Dunsborough WA, Cowaramup WA, Margaret River WA

About this opportunity

If you can offer 2 hours a week with a reasonably consistent commitment, we would love to hear from you.

You will need to have basic skills to operate most electronic devices, programs and applications. Also be patient, compassionate and a good communicator.

We will provide all the training, guidance and support from your Volunteer Team Leader to ensure you are ready to help our clients. Training includes Induction, Silver Chain Best Care learning modules and your client introduction with a Silver Chain staff member.

You will meet some lovely people in your community and help make a difference to their lifestyle to stay living at home.

Silver Chain is in a unique position to increase the skills of clients to be prepared for the “emergencies” the clients face in WA and the isolation and loneliness that clients can experience during these events. Not only do we remain under the threat of a COVID outbreak, but our state is prone to some disastrous fires and storms. By engaging “tech savvy” volunteers to work with clients with a device, we can enhance the client’s ability to stay connected with family and friends and also to have the most up to date information relating to an emergency.

This position is suitable for people aged 18+

A police clearance is required and is paid for by the organisation. Reimbursement for km’s is offered, we aim to match you with a client close to your area.

The role is suitable for those over 55yrs on a Centrelink Mutual Obligation and we encourage applications from diverse people including all cultures, religions, genders and abilities. This could be a great work experience opportunity or just a meaningful way to stay connected yourself with your community, have fun, make friends and make a real change is someone else’s life.
