Community Garden Horticultural Volunteer

About this opportunity

Work side by side with the staff at Kaurna Plains Children’s Centre, Catalyst Foundation Aboriginal Project Officer and the Aboriginal Community that attend the Kaurna Plains Children’s Centre to help establish and maintain a community garden.

Provide hands on support and mentoring to increase skills, knowledge and understanding of gardening and vegetable/fruit growing to the Aboriginal community and staff at the Centre.

Your responsibilities will be:

*Attending all volunteer commitments and duties on time, and recording your attendance by signing 'in' and 'out. *Suitable for People with disability, Skilled Volunteers, Centrelink Volunteers. *Communicating regularly with the Volunteer Coordinator, Aboriginal Project Officer, staff at the Kaurna Plains Children’s Centre and other volunteers. *Represent the Catalyst Foundation in all of your volunteer work with integrity, respect and accountability. *Maintaining the confidentiality of our customers, staff, volunteers and the organisation's business.

Catalyst Foundation (Catalyst) (est 1994: Seniors Information Service) is an inclusive, charitable, independent and reputable ‘people powered’ organization trusted to work with and alongside vulnerable individuals and communities including older people and people living with disability to achieve wellness and self-determination.

Driver's Licence (C) . National Police Certificate *.

* As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance).
* Best practice volunteer involvement recommends that a volunteer role should not be more than 15-16 hours per week.
