About this opportunity
We are keen to recruit members with daytime availability as well as people who can respond overnight and at weekends. The role is to respond to Requests for Assistance (RFA's) from the community and to undertake activities such as equipment maintenance. We are looking for volunteer members who have or are interested in developing skills in a range of areas including hand tools, power tools, chainsaws, ladders and pumps. Volunteers may also be involved in assisting VICPOL in searches (such as for missing persons) and other activities. The opportunity also exists for members to train and qualify in the operation of small boats. SES members receive training in the skill areas mentioned and well as in First Aid and general Emergency Management.

Covid-19 vaccination . Driver's Licence (C) . National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.
A level of fitness that would allow them to assist members of the public who are needing emergency assistance due to events such as flood and storm.
Volunteers need to reside within an approximate 10km travel distance from the Headquarters as they will need to attend the Geelong SES Headquarters promptly when an RFA is received.
Operational members must attend at least 60% of training. Training is on a Monday night with a daytime training/equipment schedule being considered.
24/7 Emergency response required. Members are required to attend weekly training on Mondays 7pm to 9:30pm. Be available to respond to RFA's at other times.
