Playgroup Coordinator Volunteer
About this opportunity
The objective of this role is to:
- promote playgroups
- support the playgroup facilitators
- ensure programs are operating within the Australian Government Playgroup Program Guidelines.
So, if you are the type of person who has the ability to manage and monitor playgroup programs, by:
- implementating the program to be within the guidelines for playgroups and current Health & Safety and Emergency guidelines
- promoting, supporting and encouraging active and ongoing supervision
- liaising with the Media Sub-Committee regarding advertising playgroups and for special events and activities
- Managing and maintaining administrative paperwork for all playgroups
- Interviewing, inducting and training new facilitors (when needed)

• Reliable and committed to the Centre – volunteers, staff, and participants
• Mature and stable with a calm approach to a challenge or crisis
• Good communication skills
• Ability to understand and apply Playgroup policies and procedures in the workplaces
• Clean and neat appearance; dress is casual
• An understanding of the importance of play during early childhood
• Ability to learn/ implement playgroup programs
• Be able to work in a cohesive group – with the playgroup coordinator, other facilitators and Neighbourhood Centre volunteers
• Demonstrate commitment to regular attendance and punctuality to fulfil the role requirements
• Be able to run a team/ work within a team environment.
Desirable skills include :
• Awareness of workplace Health and Safety and the requirements of Equal Opportunity Act and Disability Discrimination Act
• First Aid and or Infant First Aid training
• Knowledge of interviewing processes
* Ability to manage difficult situations and conversations
* Tertiary qualifications and/or experience in Early Learning Childhood, Community Development or Social Work
5 hours per week plus meetings Additional hours will be required for special events and/or programs
